The 2000ha reserve of open savanna woodland, grassland, and freshwater wetlands provides a unique Outback setting for Jabiru Safari Lodge, allowing guests to fully appreciate the outback savanna environment and prolific birdlife during the best times of the day.
The tariff is all-inclusive of accommodation, meals, daily wildlife safari, canoeing on Clancy’s Lagoon, self-guided walks and membership of the Wildlife Conservancy of Tropical Queensland. A minimum two night stay is recommended to allow time to experience both the morning and sunset wildlife safaris and the full range of activities available. Alternatively, accommodation is also available on a bed and breakfast basis.
Accommodation is in three deluxe African-style safari tents and two Eco safari tents, all of which have ensuite facilities. Each tent is appointed with comfortable beds and linen with natural materials such as timber floors to complement the warm tones of the furniture. The safari tents are spacious and light with shaded private timber decks and comfortable tables and chairs, perfect for bird watching, reading and enjoying the sights, sounds and scents of the Australian tropical savanna. Enjoy a glass of champagne as the sun sets over Clancy’s Lagoon. “Outback with a touch of class!”.
Delightfully sited on Clancy’s Lagoon, the Wetland Interpretive Centre is the hub for all tours and activities. The Mareeba Tropical Savanna and Wetland Reserve is a unique community conservation project combining valuable conservation work with environmental education and sustainable, nature based tourism.
The Conservation projects and Land Management of the Reserve is managed by a not-for-profit environmental organisation, the Wildlife Conservancy of Tropical Queensland with the assistance of volunteers. All income realised from sustainable tourism is reinvested into managing the Reserve as well as valuable wetland and savanna research work, education and conservation projects, such as the critical Gouldian Finch re-introduction program.
All tourism activities within the Reserve are operated in a unique partnership with the Conservancy. By visiting the Mareeba Tropical Savanna and Wetland Reserve, you are ensuring that this important work is continued and a sanctuary for Australian wildlife is preserved.
