Outback With A Touch Of Class

Enjoy the company of wallabies, quolls, emus and plentiful wildlife. Go to sleep to the distinctive call of the Southern Boobook after stargazing under the magnificent southern sky before waking to a dawn chorus alive with the sounds of the Blue-winged Kookaburra and Brolga . These and other delights of nature await you at Jabiru Safari Lodge.
Jabiru Safari Lodge

African style safari tent cabins, walking trails, boat tours, safaris and privately guided nature experiences just one hour west of Cairns and Port Douglas in Tropical North Queensland.

Jabiru Safari Lodge is located within the Mareeba Tropical savannah and Wetland Reserve, an hour west of Cairns, on the northern edge of the Atherton Tablelands (Cairns Highlands). The 2000ha reserve of open savannah woodland, grassland, and freshwater wetlands provides a unique setting for the Jabiru Safari Lodge, allowing guests to fully appreciate the outback savannah environment and prolific birdlife during the best times of the day.

The Mareeba Tropical savannah and Wetland Reserve is a unique community conservation project combining valuable conservation work with environmental education and nature based tourism.

With the assistance of volunteers it is run by a not-for-profit environmental organisation, the Wildlife Conservancy of Tropical Queensland, and all income realised from sustainable tourism is reinvested into managing the wetlands as well as valuable wetlands and savannah research work, education and conservation programmes such as the critical Gouldian Finch re-introduction programme. All tourism activities within the Reserve are operated by Tourism Naturally in a unique partnership with the Conservancy. By visiting the Mareeba Tropical savannah and Wetland Reserve you are ensuring that this important work is continued and a sanctuary for Australian wildlife is preserved.

Accommodation is in three deluxe ensuite African-style safari lodges and 2 ensuite eco-cabins. Each safari tent is appointed with comfortable beds and linen, natural materials such as timber floors compliment the warm tones of the safari furniture. The safari tents are spacious and light with shaded private timber verandah with BBQs and comfortable tables and chairs perfect for bird watching reading and enjoying the sights, sounds and scents of the Australian tropical savanna. Enjoy a glass of champagne as the sun sets over Clancy's Lagoon. "Outback with a touch of class!".

Clancy's Lagoon and its spectacular Visitor's Centre provide the hub for all tours and activities. Overnight accommodation packages are also available.
